Just back from a week in Habana, Cuba and Cancun, Mexico. Of course I visited the sites of some of the famous Cuban casinos, but none are open, gambling is now illegal in Cuba. I will write about those casinos later.
In Cancun I visited the Playboy Casino. It is a nightclub/casino operated by the Palmas Group. They charge a $20 entrance fee and you get a free drink coupon. It is a small place only about 10 table games and 50 slot machines. The slot machines do not accept cash, only debit cards you buy from the casino. Nothing I was interested in, so I did not play and don't know exactly how they work. The table games were mostly blackjack, a couple of roulettes, 3 card poker and hold'em poker table game. They also had a poker room with 2 tables and a sportsbook. The dealers were not bunnies, instead the busty bunnies stood next to the dealers and smiled at you. That is all they did. On the whole, I would say it rates as a low class clip joint. The true $1 exchange rate is around 13.5 pesos, but the casino only gave 10. Odds on all the games were well to the house advantage as they have no competition. I had to go in and get some chips, which was not difficult, but no reason to go back.
The chips were all in pesos - 5 (hard to get, only used to play blackjacks), 10 (3 different ones), 50, 100 (2 different), 500 and 1000. They were all new, not the ones listed on the ChipGuide. I will get them on the ChipGuide in a couple of days. I have a few extras of the 5's, 10's and one (1) 100.
