Four replies and no one answered your questions directly. Yes the convention is a lot of fun and a busy time pretty much 24/7 for some members. grin The tables can be rented for any reason but the main reason is to sell chips, tokens, ashtrays, dice, and anything else with a casino name on it. In fact there is not really a restriction on what you sell so long as it is close to gambling related. The club would be happy to have anyone who wants to rent a table.

As far as having a few chips to trade, there are trade sessions starting on Wednesday morning and going to the Last Dance on Saturday evening. Not to mention and trades done in private hotel rooms. The trade sessions are the most fun for a lot of members. There have been many years when I was the first one in the room and the last one to leave. The only requirements are that you be a member with ID (preregistration is needed for Wednesday sessions) and that there is no selling only trading. It helps to have prices on your chips just as a starting point for value to other members but it is not necessary.

The speakers are always interesting and the morning sessions are where you can pick up a lot of great information and chip history. The banquet speaker is always great as is the one at the volunteer banquet. The banquet is also preregistration only and the volunteer banquet is by invitation to those who volunteer to help out during the convention for a few hours. If you are going I would suggest you volunteer at some point. The easiest are set up and tear down before and after the convention. Help is also needed at the club tables during the show.

The BJ and poker tournaments are also a blast if you like tournaments.
