I was going thru a bunch of Roulette chips today to get an order together for a fellow chipper. I was going thru the cases that I usually take to the Convention. Anyone who has visited my table at the Conventions will remember these cases that hold about 300 chips each. Anyway, back to the story !! I came across a Luxor Roulette from Table C that for some reason caught my eye - you know the feeling. The more I looked at the chip the stranger it got. After a close examination I noticed several things that were different from the standard issue Plain Mold White C chip. The color is definitely a beige not a white and the most interesting thing is that there are 16 white inserts around the outer edge of the chip. This surely is an unknown variety of this chip.(see the attached scans)
The funny thing about this whole thing is that I probably have taken this chip to 5 or 6 Conventions and never noticed it until today. What are the odds that I did not sell this chip to one of the many, many collectors who have looked thru these boxes over the years.
Also now we have the mystery of how this chip came into existence ??? Was it an error at the factory ?? Or was it a prototype that some how got in to play ?? We may never know.
All I know is that I have a one of a kind Roulette chip that will always have a special place in my collection - and this is "one of the reasons I love this Hobby" !!!!
