These, I am assured by the Huxley records, are the chips that were delivered to the Shah of Iran's 'personal playground' casino which was still under construction when he was deposed. The Ayatollah immediately halted work.
So I am also assured that the casino never actually opened. The building itself became the Ramsar Grand Hotel. I am aware of the two plastic chips shown on chipguide. Neither I nor Huxley's know anything about those.
These chips only have the inlay on one side. They were not printed in Persian on the reverse. Which as pointed out to me casts more doubt on the chipguide chips given that this casino would have been for foreigners only. One final doubt is the fact Iran notates their currency as xxxR not Rxxx.
Very rare set of 6 - $225 shipped.
