Met a TV star and flea market finds today

Today I went to the Nashville flea market for the first time in a long time. I found most of the coins at the very first booth I went to this morning. But I didn't get a great deal on them overall (unless the price of silver goes back up). Most people don't know that the WWII nickels are 35% silver and worth $1.08 each today.

Early in the morning I heard two dealers talking about Mike walking around just a few feet away. Mike who? Mike Wolfe from American Pickers! A little while later I caught up with him and talked to him briefly. I thanked him for finding the MGM Metro chips and others for me. grin

The LJ chips the dealer said he bought at an estate sale in New Orleans a few weeks ago. I didn't have the chips already and don't see them in the TGT but since New Orleans was a hotbed of gambling you never know. The Toney's Spaghetti House chip is also from New Orleans by the address on the back. I had to pay a few dollars over silver value for each of the strikes and I only bought them because I needed them for the collection. The coin dealer that sold them to me had several pages of strike inserts that had been removed from the brass rings. Unfortunately he also had a $40 Strike I needed but the guy had tried to remove the nonexistent ring from it and destroyed it. GEEZ! The dice came from another dealer who had quite a few of them but wanted too much to pick up any duplicates.

I do have two sets of the LJ chips available for $9 per set delivered. Email me a chipnut@comcast.net
