In Peoria back in those days raids weren't much of a concern. Peoria was a "wide open town" and gamblers' protection money went to the city. It was like an unofficial tax, delivered directly to the mayor. Still, much nicer chips than I would have expected.
A major bridge in Peoria is still known as the "McCluggage Bridge". Named after a former mayor, who was the brother...I think...of the McCluggage who ordered these chips.
