I tend to keep my posts to sales these days, but wanted to share these pics with you. I bought this from an antique dealer - it's an unusual (to me anyway) variant of roulette, used in a casino I have not come across before - the Kerner Casino Sheffield. Sheffield is an industrial city around 150 miles north of London. The dealer suggested that these equipment had been stored for around 40 years, although he maybe assumed that from the pre-decimal values on the jetons that came with the table.

First the table - effectively a roulette table but without the option of betting on individual numbers! 6 of the numbers are also missing from the wheel, and when the ball hit those 6 slots then most bets are losers, and go in the 'player pool' which you can bet on at 4-1 odds (a nice edge for the house there!). The wheel is a professionally produced wheel from Paris, although smaller than what is currently considered a roulette wheel. Obviously there should be a stand which I don't have, and the table comes in 2 halves which you can see in the pictures as I haven't pushed it completely together.

It also came with chip racks, cash boxes, old cards and card drop boxes, even an old till device which I haven't completely worked out yet. I even got a rake and a card paddle. Oh, and a wooden security cover - maybe from a cash desk? It was found with the rest of the equipment.

The strangest item is a wooden block with a brass plate on it which seems to be a picture, of the bar area. It is quite worn but you can make a little out from the picture below.

As for the jetons, there are a few but mostly very worn. I will post separately in detail with some for sale, but there are a few 1/- (one shilling) which is a low value chip, 2 types of 2/6 (snappers!) - the ones in better condition seem to be a reorder and only have "Kerner Casino" not "Kerner Casino Sheffield" on them, 5/-, £1 and finally some oversize £5 jetons.
