6th Grade, Chicago, Ogden Elementary School...

on the Near Northside. Teachers were already advised when all classrooms had students seated and Principal made an announcement over the PA system. School was cancelled for the day, perhaps more, but it was a very, very quiet place. I remember the teacher suggesting a silent prayer/moment of silence, after which, we were all sent home.

It was about this time that I realized the greater horizon of National and even International events! John John's farewell salute and the calvary boots backwards in the stirrups of the cason, are forever etched in my mind.

For many of us, our World changed that day, in that moment. sad
