This hotel, The Jaragua, which was built by and for the dictator Trujillo in late 40's (again not sure of the casino, believe early 50's)has had many renovations over the years, many changes in ownership and management. At once it was a Holiday Inn, LOL. So, you will find many "innagurations" over the years. Is the oldest Hotel/casino in the Island. La Voz Dominicana may have opened their casino first,1951, unofficially, since it belong to the dictator, but did not have a hotel attached and was destroyed as soon as the dictator was killed. The third Casino/Hotel was the Embajador, and like the Jaragua, still standing.
