$5 FLOYDS, Martinez CA

This is one of my all time favorite California chips. This chip was owned by the son of Pretty BOY Floyd, Charles Dempsey Floyd, he went by his nick name Jack. He had a card room in Martinez California 1982-83. He put a picture of his dad Pretty boy Floyd on the 50c, $1 & $5 chip and his mother on the $20 chip. I met Jack Floyd many years ago when he was a manager at the OAKS Card room in Emeryville California. Jack was born 29 December 1924 and died 23 March 1999 in Vacaville, CA. All the Floyds chips are biologically connected with one of the most famous bank robbers of all time.

$5 FRONTIER, Las Vegas

Long ago I went through hundreds of these $5 chips at the Frontier to find several in this GREAT shape. Most of these chips were on the tables many years and have well rounded edges. This chip has nice clean edges.

$5 SOUTH TAHOE NUGGET, Lake Tahoe

Although this chip has hours of table play the chip and location is CLASSIC Lake Tahoe.

Richard Chartrand one of the owners of the South Tahoe Nugget was blown up at South Lake Tahoe. Chartrand was backing out of his driveway one day in 1968 when a bomb under his car exploded, killing him, the case remains unsolved.
South Tahoe Nugget 1965-81 changed to John’s Tahoe Nugget in 1981-91 and then ED’s Tahoe Nugget 1991-93. The building is there but no casino since 1993.
