My opinion is, nobody willing tosses gaming chips into the trash! Chips, whether they are from a casino, a home game or illegal operation, once manufactured, for the most part, they just live on!

When the slot machines and tables are busted up (in front of the Press cameras) the chips are just behind the cash to quietly disappear following a raid.

Chips in the vault, tend to stay in the vault, until pried out by a man with a plan.

Whenever the card player in the family passes on, his chips just pass along to remaining family or go to a yardsale or the local thrift store.
