These are well-known chips (see pictures below of both sides of the chips), ascribed to be from a "21 West Elizabeth" club in Detroit, Michigan (pointed to in the Detroit map below), in many chip lists and books.
I'll take up the first question in this thread and the second question in another thread.
(2) "21 West Elizabeth" is one one side only. Why? A security problem.
(3) odd that the chips only exist for two tables -- 1 and 10. Where is 2, 3 , 4, etc.?
(4) One says just "50" on one side. Table 50?
(5) one says 15ยข on one side. Why?
(6) if there was no gambling at 21 West Elizabeth, could the chips be transportation or junket prize coupons? If so, why all those colors?
