My take on the Hollywood Club weave mold

At the present time I am still listing the weave mold Hollywood Club chip as unknown. I'll give you both sides of the argument. We do not have exact records for when the weave mold was first produced. What has been documented so fr is that the mold was available in 1958 by H. Baron Co., It's not in stone that that is the year that they were first produced, but it is a starting point. Nothing we have yet states it was any sooner. That does not mean it wasn't made in the early 1950s...it just means we haven't documented anything earlier yet. The Hollywood Club in Toledo closed it's doors for the final time in 1951. So until we can find something....anything that shows the weave mold being produced or used in 1951 out hands are tied.

That said, here are some reasons why people are leaning towards the Toledo attribution. The font used on the waeve mold chip is exactly the same as the small key chips that were from Toledo. In addition, large numbers of the weave mold chips have been discovered a few different times in Toledo. One such discovery was a year ago, when two hundred of the weave mold chips were found in a yard sale with 300 of the cream small key Hollywood Club $1.00 chips. The weave chips have been found in many an antique shop and flea market in the Toledo area.....but still, those sorts of finds only lead to speculation.

Until I am able to uncover firm compelling reasons....I unfotunately, will have to keep them classified as unknown.

Best Regards, Terry
