Have you ever driven around the North Western coastal road on Maui?. It's an experience. The cliff side road in places is so narrow cars can hardly pass. Someone has to back up if you meet. My wife didn't want to sit next to her side of the car. The cliff was a couple hundred feet down to the road on one side and a couple hundred feet down into, who knows what, on the other. That was some of the scariest driving I've ever had.
