It is just after 10 pm EDT and the polls are closed. Up for a vote was this ChipGuide issue:
A) Casino Pages - for each item, contributors can have their name associated with their contributions
1) Leave as is
2) Do not show the contributor's name
B) Contributor Page - is a list of all contributors with the ability to see their contributions by collectible type or all together
1) Leave as is
2) Just show a list of contributors, do not show their contributions
Make a selection for both A and B or submit a different option.
There are clear winners - A1 and B1, leave as is. I appreciate the voters for making their voices heard, thank you.
But for those who are interested in making changes, know that your voice is also heard. I understand that collectors would like to have the ChipGuide customized for their individual collecting needs. For instance ... I only collect Nevada $5 chips ... the ChipGuide would be more useful to me if I only saw a list of Nevada Casinos that issued $5 chips when I logged on to the ChipGuide ... when I clicked on a casino I would only see $5 chips, nothing else: no tokens or TITO's or Slot Cards or any of the other stuff that I don't collect. That is only one example, another could be a Dice Collectors version of the ChipGuide. And if you wanted to, you could turn everything else back on.
I have been thinking about customizing the ChipGuide, allowing each collector to have their own personalized version of the ChipGuide. It can be done and it could be done without all that much effort. It would involve setting up Logon ID's and ChipGuide user profiles. When you logon, your profile would be applied to give you a personalized ChipGuide. If you did not logon, then you would get the ChipGuide as is. So maybe one of the profile options could be to allow control over whether contributor names are shown or not. It probably won't happen for a while. First, I just don't have the time right now, and second I want to think more about it to make sure that I get it right the first time.
