When the person asked me to make you the offer he hadn't told me he had contacted you directly, he only told me that later.
My point was that you declined what in my opinion would have been the highest offer you would ever see for it. In fact when you take into account ebay fees and exchange rates, it is only 8% less than your ebay starting price. Its your business, do what you like, but don't bother asking for advice if you only want it to start an argument.
