answer. But if I may, I'd like to make these comments...

That general design of Tropicana chips, i.e., the ones with light circles on the inlays, was made by two different manufacturers. The Sun molded chips were made by Blue Chip Company (BCC) which was started up several years ago by past employees/operators of Paul-Son Gaming. Very recently BCC assets were bought by Gaming Partners International (GPI), which is what Paul-Son Gaming is now a part of.

From day one, BCC was plagued with quality control issues. I believe it may have started with the Reno Hilton, $8 Year of the Monkey chips in 2004, where inlays were consitently out of alignment. An example from ChipGuide is shown here:

Another quality control issue that BCC had was consistency of chip colors (the clay composition material), printing colors of inlays and even the depth of of a mold. Here is a link to a post I made in June of 2012, about all of these issues being present on the Sahara, Las Vegas $1 chips then being made by BCC.

Here also is a scan of BCC made Sahara $1 chips with many shade variations, perhaps too many to individually post on ChipGuide as individual scans, but maybe this scan should be included on ChipGuide.

I really believe that what you are seeing is a color variation of the printed inlay, as an example of poor quality control by BCC just as we saw for the Sahara chips, and yes, as striking as yours is, it should be included in ChipGuide, providing there is a difference between the colors of the inlays, which is better made when the 2 (or more) variations are scanned side-by-side at the same time.

Therefore, I believe that you have a chip that is a variation of this chip:

Lastly, just like the BCC made Sahara chips, some of the BCC made Tropicana chips had an insert issue, wherein the chip body had too many notches for inserts and the extra holes were filled with inserts that were same color as the chip body. But mixing the color for the inserts and the color for the chip bodies was done at different times and so there is a tell-tale difference in these re-work chips.

ChipGuide has an example of this, as shown here:

This chip is designated as CG087602. For TCR purposes, I believe it should be a variation of D0418. But that is not my call.
