Good question....

I don't have all the answers. Here's what I know. Several yeas ago about five or six of us antique chip collectors wanted to take Dale's book to a color chip guide. We all wanted to continue what Dale Seymour has done. This photo project is a guide to Dale Seymour's coded chips book. It is in no way in competition with his effort, just an expansion into color and on-line access with new chips added as they are found. Dale's book is still the Bible and I sleep with it every night.....well not every night. Dale gave his blessing to the project and Smitty permission to add new codes. We have been true to keeping the age cut off to pre 1950 and not including plastic chips even if they are old enough......The only exception to all of this was in the Gambling chip manufacturers and distributors section. We expanded that by a few years. I'm not sure what the newest ones in the on line guide are but, I'm thinking about 1970. Honestly, I have l little knowledge of distributor's chips compared to the real old generic antique chips. Actually I agree that these are not really antique chips in the pure sense. Even in Dale's book they seemed to be a newer group.

Going forward, I'll code antique chips that merit it, not just because someone wants a chip coded. All information is bounced off of several people before a code is assigned. Sometimes it's a no brainer. Some coding possibilities may provoke questions and any interest in antique chips is good as far as I'm concerned. My intent is to follow Dale's lead on what's in his book. I'm not going to change anything that's already there. I hope some of this rambling answers your question.
