I have cleaned over a thousand inlaid chips succesfully. I've followed guides here and also on Chiptalk.net, where chip cleaning is probably much more common. But hotstamped chips are not all the same. Some you put in a mild solution for 2 minutes, take it out, and some flecks are missing without even touching the chip at all. Beware.
I have tried more than once (4-5 tries) using milder and milder solution, and less soaking time, but still ended up very disappointed and will never attempt it again.
The only chips I even dared try this on were common circulated A-value $1 chips.
Also, most guides or posts I've read say put a coin over the hotstamp and dont clean near it, just the outer edge. So looks like most others have had bad luck too.
