For all we know, some of those collectors may already be attending our annual conventions ... but your suggestion is a good one... if the parties are willing to do such a media exchange.
With regards to creating an Excutive Director position ... personally speaking, I'm not in favor of creating such a post ... which is my understanding has been discussed by the BOD on several occassions now and has been discounted from what I take has been posted previously. In my view, the club President is the Executive Director.
What duties would this "ED" be doing that one or more of our currently elected officers can not do? Would this "ED" be appointed by the current club President, or elected by the membership? Would each newly elected club President appoint or re-appoint an "ED"? Who would the "ED" take direction from? Who would the "ED" report to? How much compensation would this "ED" title be paid? Would there be an employee contract offered for the "ED" and for what duration? Can the "ED" be dismissed at any time? Are you interested in taking on the "ED" position if it were offered? Most current American Numismatic Association members can tell you of the horror stories of the past several ANA Executive Directors who have been dismissed and have in turn sued the ANA! In fact, the ANA is embroiled in such another ugly law suit dispute right now.
The club used to have an OLCD (on-line communications director). I won't get into the politics of maintaining that position, but I thought that the individual who held that volunteer post for awhile did a pretty good job communicating on-line, especially with new members and prospective new members. The former OLCD post, which cost the club nothing, was abolished and a replacement successor has never been made.
Just a few of my thoughts for consideration ...
