Steve had a good point getting family members to be interested. I have tried in our large extended family, but not much luck. They are so busy raising families, and working, not much time for outside activities. The time they have is directed toward other activities.I believe that the majority of young adults have no interest in collecting anything, maybe due to the cyber world today. When we were young, collecting was a big part of our lives, baseball cards, stamps, coins, dolls, ect. For some of us this turned to chips' as more and more casinos opened,it was a follow up to gaming. I doubt if many members got into chip collecting, without first doing some gaming. Then the collecting bug from our youth clicked in.Now we have mostly a older group in our club. So, Everyone knows without younger blood we will have a decline in members. (not just our club, but all groups) For example my church is 90% seniors and membership is falling, as younger families not coming. My church will close in 5-7 years. If we can get the 21-41 year olds in our club, we will grow. I wish I had a answer to how to do it.When I play poker at local casinos, I always bring up the fact I'm a chip collector, hoping to have a interest response, rarely do,Many of my age friends, when I tell them about my chip collecting, have never heard of such a thing, even when I host 24 guy's for Sat. night poker group, in my home and show them my collection, some say that's interesting, but when I suggest they become collectors, no interest. If we could somehow get our club advertising in casino's, this would the best place for harvesting new members. But, I doubt any casino would allow . If we had dealers in our club, they could promote maybe. A very difficult task, hope some good ideas can spin off these threads.Maybe we could get some members to hand our cards about our club on the side walk outside casino's like the ****** do.
