7000 were found a while back. They were shipped ~~

~~~ from Reno to a woman's club in IL many years ago.
I sent Howdy Herz an original REA label from one of the cardboard boxes...
When I introduced the missing table/floor numbers I had cherry picked the examples that were "unused" and sold them for $8 each. The used chips were $5 each and overstamped chips were $3 each... When I was done w/ all I needed for my buyers the lot was sold by the original owner... A lot of interest in boxfulls in the Atlanta area, I remember.
Howdy wrote an interesting article ("The Missing Link") with charts showing what all I reported in the find... and the most interesting thing Howdy mentioned back then (when I thought the quantity high) was considering how many sets can be amassed; really not that many chips.
There just ain't that many Roulette collectors, though... grin
