Re: Only info I have.....

Another collector told me this in relation to the markers that I managed to get hold of, regarding the A.M Club.

The white elephant club located in Curzon street was started in the late 50’s by a Mr Victor Brusa, and was later inherited by his wife Mrs Stella Richman in the early 60’s, and was a private club which just included a bar and restaurant. Then in the late 60’s Stella leased out the upstairs rooms of the club to “the A.M. Casino” (which was not legally part of the white elephant club, but you needed to enter the club to get upstairs into the a.m casino). I could not find exactly how it happened, but sometime also in the late 60’s the A.M casino closed; and Stella used the upstairs for her own casino which was a now officially part of her existing white elephant club. The casino aspect of the club closed a few years later, but the white elephant club remained open until 1988, when It was bought by Aspinall and became Aspinalls first Mayfair casino when he moved his business over from Knightsbridge. I think the markers (2/6 that Leonidas put up) are maybe from the A.M casino that leased the top rooms of the white elephant club in the 1960’s.

Matches too.......

Hope this is of some "use".
