I brought this subject up regarding these chips 1 1/2 years ago- Spinetti's sells them regularly and repeatedly and offers large numbers of them available.
They all but ignored my questions on Ebay about it, so I inquired of the club. Sheldon Smith asked me not to file an ethics claim since he was a longtime friend of Spinetti. Instead he helped him write the disclaimer below, saying he was satisfied with the situation, but immediately added 'Counterfeit' to his own Ebay sales of the same chips.
"This chip along with 100's of others sold on eBay each month may or may not have been used in a casino. There is speculation, mostly by a few individual collectors that they were made after the casino closed. Or they were made for the casino, but never used. Remember, state law requires that all casinos have a second set of chips in reserve. In either case, they were made by the original manufacturer, in the same molds as the chips considered legitimate without question."
Basically a invite to the prospective buyer that there is more to the story and they should go investigate it themselves on the club site when it is well known to the seller they are not genuine, but made after the close of the casino.
I just found these two listings that they don't even use the disclaimer for anymore, representing them to unknowing beginner/novice collectors once again to be genuine.

The Club BOD was aware of the problem, and they said I was invited to file a ethics claim if I felt it neccesary. I didn't file the claim since (1) they were aware of the problem, and (2) the club VP himself helped Spinetti write what I still call a deceptive disclaimer.
I never said for the chips not to be sold, but if you know they are not genuine, you should be bound to say so- but 18 months later, it continues.
