All those car makers did odd things back around 1960-
Imperial had free standing headlights and a record player
Edsel had the tranny buttons in the middle of the steering wheel
Ford was technically illegally too wide for most states laws
GM played "hide the gas cap"
Studebaker Lark wagon had a rear section sliding roof panel
My '60 Dart had the rear view mirror on a stand
