First off I never relate my gambling experiences. I think its tacky.
Oh well I guess I'm about to get tacky.
As is the norm, I am losing during my convention stay (one convention I had Fred Wilker, Lord rest his soul, wrirte a check directly to the Mirage for several thou to help cover some gambling losses. Fred got some nices ivories as I recall). On the last day, I threw down my last $123 at about 7:50 pm. I am taking the red eye that night. When I placed my last bet I picked up my bag and slung the strap around my neck, ready to leave anticipating that the inevitable 7 would roll. The stick man said to me "why are you so negative?". I told him that I knew what was coming. Long story short, the roll ended close to 9:00pm and I cashed in $3600.
Not to sound greedy but I also was playing $15 on the small, tall, all bets. (when I arrived at the table, some guy was in the middle of being paid off about $4k on a $35 bet). During my hour plus run I had all numbers but the 2 on the small and all numbers but the 11 on the tall. However the shooter would hit the point but then threw a 7.
I only write this not because it was a long roll or that I won $3600. The whole point is that I was about to leave for the airport and this was my last bet at the convention. Whoda thunk?
