~~~ they are in essence buying a "total package" of goods and services and should be able to request proper handling of such goods and services; especially when paying for the total package... Though, with many subjects discussed on this message board and on the club message board, the advice is overlooked for the most part -- and only discussed, fully, when such a problem hits home... otherwise, "it ain't my problem...!"
We, as a club, should have published notes as to safe packaging for ALL types of items we collect, chips (composition, MOP and Ivory), slot cards and what all else... since I feel it will do more good than harm (just like we have 'chip cleaning' notes published at the club website which in fact in many cases is an item passed on)... and I only mention this if and when a claim is made where such 'standard' will come into place.
Personally... I see no uses, whatsoever, for a plain, #10 envelope being used to ship a chip, unprotected... and by simply marking that envelope with "HAND CANCELL" without both using the proper additional postage and in-person, at counter request is totally useless and should be the sender's fault and not the USPS (and somewhat the buyers fault as well without proper instructions given/requested)... and, sure damage/loss problems don't happen often, but why should they happen at all if WE can help avoid them from happening...!
