Hi Rene, greetings from LOST VEGAS! .... I remember the 1st. issue $5 & $25 Thunderbird chips we bought at the convention. James Campiglia came to our table and was not interested in the hoard of T-Bird chips due to the poor condition etc. We bought them all and decided to let them all go at the convention for $25 a piece with a limited of 2 or 3 chips per collector / dealer. Some greedy people rushed to the internet and put them on Ebay for around $1500 as a new find. I remember you went on Ebay and had the auctions removed and alerted the other collectors who could not make the auction. Everybody was happy to add this r-10 chip to their collection for only $25!
Rene I am happy for you and your family living happily in San Diego! You took a lot of abuse from JEALOUS Chip Collectors & Dealers who were too lazy to hustle around to find deals and promote the hobby ... you promoted more memberships for the Club than most everyone. Good Luck in your new career ... not bad for a kid from Germany who could not even speak English! Yes you made some money in the so called hobby (BUSINESS) ... but if you were paid by the hour it would have come to about a $1 per hour. Rene ... love you or leave you ... you had a positive effect on the hobby! Best of Luck to you and your new family make lots of $$$ ... Rich Burgel, Nevadamint & Lost Vegas Antiques.
