Re: The PGI / Chipco auction pending

I hadn't heard they would have an auction as such. Just looking for offers.

In my opinion, the only atraction for a buyer is the chance of finding a few scarce Nevada chips in the lot. Hopefully a few will not be cancelled (?). Remember the Desert Inn and Main Street Station rarities? Also may be some high denomination chips that collectors otherwise wouldn't have at all. You buy a gold mine knowing you will discard most of the mine and profit from the scarce nuggets and dust.

90% plus would be LE's and foreign chips that don't sell these days even uncancelled. In most cases, notched chips wouldn't be useful for home games as they have sharp edges and don't feel nice.

Now if this were another "open the vaults" sale like TR King did, the dealers would be fighting to get all the uncancelled reference chips and unknown prototypes grin . Even advertising samples were worth a lot in that situation as they were old and many had not been seen by collectors.

Whether or not viewing the lot before making an offer is allowed will also make a difference. How will a buyer know whether the gold has already been mined grin .
