The PGI / Chipco auction pending

Just some statistics about the Palm Gaming Intl. (PGI) pending auction of Chipco chips they acquired when they purchased Chipco ...
For their original post, see --

That group of 30,000-40,000 chips has to be one of the largest bulk sales of chips ever!! I'm not a deep-pocket dealer, so I won't be bidding in the auction, but here's some things to consider--

At 10 grams each, that's 300-400 kilograms of chips (excluding packing materials) ... or 660-880 pounds!
In volume, a 100-chip rack is about 38.25 cu. inches, so the total chip load is about 6.6 - 8.8 cubic feet in volume (or about 100 lbs. per cu. ft.)

The Chip Rack lists 1614 Nevada chips with the Chipco mold, so that's only about 5% of the total... assuming just 1 chip of each. (But maybe there are multiples??) If each chip is unique, that means the vast majority are non-Nevada, perhaps non-USA ?? A geographic breakdown -- even estimated -- would be interesting to know.

On a personal note, I do recall when the first Chipcos came out -- the El San Juan (Puerto Rico) set, then the Harrah's Tahoe and Harvey's commemorative chips. They were strikingly different to all other chips in the days when they first appeared.

Good luck to PGI and the bidders in the auction. I hope to hear more about the collection.
