When the club starts paying people to do their jobs ... other hard working VOLUNTEERS may resent that. I belonged to a numismatic organization who started paying their convention chair (probably because they could not find a volunteer who would do the job.) Then the Editor said he wanted to be paid for each issue because he was doing as much (if not more work all year round) as the Convention Chair. Then the Secretary wanted to be paid ... and the house came tumbling down.
