Reading this thread has made me question my future actions. I have been considering taking over from Todd putting the club magazine.
- I am a 25 year member who maintained a low profile for many years due various life reasons.
- For many years I was unable to attend conventions, there is very little activity in the NYC Metro area, yes there local clubs which meet a couple times a year but they are 1.5 to 3 hours away. Still life for a long time did not allow me to participate.
- I became a member way back when because I got a copy od the magazine in Bill Borland's store.
- I have always looked forward to the magazine, it is the reason I joined. It is what has connected me to the club all these years. Without it I would not have had a reason to stay a member because it was my only connection. I do not know how many member feel this way but you will not find them on the forum. I have only recently started to look at Chip Guide forums & add to the data base.
- As to the comment that there is nothing new to write about, well as a retired teacher, there is always something new to learn. Maybe we need more members to contribute to the magazine.
- People offer their services to an organization, do not expect to get paid but, do expect support.
- 80 - 20 rule applies in most organizations, 80% of the work is done by 20% of the people
- I am helping at the convention this year for the first time. I am concerned about getting new members, & bringing new blood.
As I stated earlier, I am now retired and I am a looking for outlets to contribute my time and experience. I want to do something that is rewarding as well as low stress. This thread is making me rethink where I am going.
