I have access to the 4th edition of the Wells book. It is good for picture reference if you are say on the road. The prices are so way off in my opinion I only would use the prices to determine that a chip is common or not common. It was printed in 2009 and it is a totally different market now.
If using the Chip Rack it is still a bit off on values but those guys are doing their best to keep it in line. And if you have a question the TCR guys will answer it generally within a few hours.
Myself I use the TCR and the online guide for scans if I want to see what a chip looks like. Again why it is important for us all to submit scans so we all can enjoy the online guide.
