Last year Penn National's Argosy Casino in Sioux City got into a dispute with the non-profit license holder over proceeds the non-profit gets. Penn found a new non-profit and brought the matter to the attention of the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission - thinking IRGC was just going to rubber stamp the new non-profit. Iowa law has a non-profit as the license holder and they get a portion of the proceeds for the operator. However IRGC went a different direction and had casino companies and their chosen non profits submit proposals. Today it was announced the Hard Rock and the non profit that Argosy was hooked up originally with had the winning proposal. So Argosy will eventually close as the Hard Rock opens a new property. I do not know how long until Hard Rock comes on line. I will search the internet. I just heard a brief blip on the local news about Hard Rock winning.
