I'm just throwing my 2 cents in because Ross and I were sitting side by side and he is correct. There were no black chips on the table. They didnt have enough chips so our stacks were different sizes and we made change amongst ourselves. The 1000s were 1s (roulette maybe) there was some pan chips and 1 25 El Cortez chip that the manager said the winner could have. I had it in my stack forever until Ross busted me. We even had some Union Plaza chips in play.
All in all I think my point is, there is no way in hell they have any idea what chips were on the table, and certainly have no idea if 1 of the nonexistent black chips are missing. Not a slight at the El Cortez, just the simple truth because I do the same thing for a living. The inventory process is not that stringent even in a very organized event. A random tournament with an old box of chips has no oversight.
