As I mentioned previously, every 1st Sunday of the month, a local group puts on an Antique Faire at a local school, with setting up on the sports field and an indoor auditorium.
I'm a pushover for inexpensive playing cards and I found 9 decks for a quarter each. I did find a 10th deck (for $2) and I nearly ripped my pants getting my wallet out to gladly pay that much for a deck of playing cards. I am referring to the Yaquinto made (now Cartamundi) deck for the Casino of the Sun, right here in Tucson, AZ. From day one of playing card usage at the Casino of the Sun (poker) they have never, ever allowed their used decks into the marketplace. For years they sat warehoused and about 2 years ago, they began destroying the stored decks.
I am always on the look out for Casino of the Sun decks, and this is the first deck I have ever seen outside of the casino. It does not appear used, but it has been opened. The Caesars Palace Baccarat deck was used in December of 1987.
In addition to the earlier posted, "CDB" hub chip, I also found this deteriorating die that is stamped "P . G". Any ID anyone?
Lastly, I bought something I usually do not buy, and that is a tourist/souvenir item. However, in this instance, I could not argue with the price, but it I suspect it is fairly old. I only scanned the lid, but this is a tin (or pot metal) box, made in Japan and lined with wood. It measures about 3.5" x 4" and stands 2" high. What got my attention, was the "Hotel Apache" signage above the Horseshoe casino.
As a recap... This was the chip:
Thanks for looking!
