These numbers people are quoting are strictly fantasy. When we update values it's based on actual auction results, not double or triple the final hammer prices. Even on that basis, we wind up raising the values of lots of chips each year.
If people are bottom-fishing and looking crazy bargains on very common chips, they can occasionally find them on eBay. I don't feel that those results are a true reflection of values. I find that for most scarce or rare chips, the chips sell for prices very close to our values. Take a look, for instance, at the auction results for Doug's auctions.
