As some of you may know from my website, Manie Hyman (M. Hyman Cigar & Importing company), besides ordering the Anona Cigar c&s, in the 1880s also owned Hyman's Saloon in Leadville, CO. Manie's saloon was the headquarters for Doc Holliday.
The following is a newspaper article describing Doc's shootout at Manie's place in 1884. The article is a great read. Writing back then was quite colorful. I love the way all the friends of the victim have one story while all of Doc's friends have another. A very shory second article states that the jury took only a couple of minuters to render an acquittal.
For those that have watched the movies "Tombstone" or "Wyatt Earp", the first artical also gives an accounting of the gun fight at the OK coral. Funny thing is that the Earps' name is spelled ERB. What's with that? Maybe names changed to protect the innocent (or maybe their own life!)
