It's about a 30-minute water taxi or ferry ride from where the cruise ship berth. That part od the island is connected by a causeway for both train and bus travel. Some taxis but not as many since it's more convenient to ride public transportation and use a water taxi depending on your cruise line's slip. So, when you go into Venice when the ship disembarks passengers, it's a good ideal to make plans to get back to the ship on your own so you can enjoy the nightlife. That's why it's a good idea to plan ahead instead of returning to the ship before dark. Really, it's a pleasant experience.
