Airfares are up and down based on a lot of conditions that you could never count on. There are sites you can look at that will look at historical trends to guess the general direction of the fare. Right now there is no downward pressure but its always hard to say this far out. Saying that, most experts think it will rise during the year, along with the fees that go with it (you see that for SouthPoint's announcement and the airlines are looking to increase revenue doing the same).
I would wait it out to about 60-120 days before then plan to be flexible in terms of travel days. I might also set up some price alerts with Kayak to alert you on price changes. Prices will rise but there will always be sales.
