OK, originally I was going to speculate that the NO “No Cash Value” chip was a sample sent to Nevada Gaming and was rejected because of the missing NCV and somehow the sample(s) ended up in collector’s hands.
But I decided to go the person who would most likely know, Ted Gottlieb the President Gaming International, Inc. Ted, told me that the promotion didn’t last that long so there would have only been one production run on the chips. Ted sent me a scan of the only chip(s) he knew about (which were the same as what we all have in our collections).
So with that said, could there be NO “No Cash Value” chip? Most likely the answer is NO since there was only one printing (Hot Stamp) run on these chips.
I would say unless someone comes forward with an example, the “Myth has been busted”.
