Got these from Walt at the Super Show.
Look at the two at the top. They were apparently trying out silk-screened color designs on the molded plastic metal core chips! These look terrible. The one on the right lookls like they tried to remove the design and it dissolved the plastic. I wonder if it ever worked out.
Second row shows possibilities for new core designs at Reliable. I don't think the surface design in the second row was used on any real chips (or samples). These floor sweepings show the problems they had in getting the plastic to stick where it was supposed to. Also, notice these brass slugs have a silvery layer (plated?) on them with concentric circles. It also didn't always stick properly, as you can see in the one that has peeled. As I look at the scans, it does appear that another problem may have been insufficient plastic to cover both sides of the chip. Other side looks OK.
