While in Vegas last week I stopped by the Venetian. I played a bit there and noticed some $5.00 house chups that were minty fresh. They appeared to be the same as the $5 house chips used since the opening in 1999. I didn't remember the condition of the one in my collection, so decided to stick it in my pocket.
Upon my return to the Toledo homeland, I pulled the one out of my collection. It was not minty, but close enough for a chip that will be worth $5.00 in twenty years. However, there is a variation. The original has a glossy finish to the inlay, while the new reissue has a non-glossy, matte finsh. AH-AH !! Yet another chip for the variation collectors to ad to their collections.
