Yes, I was one of those crazies picking up that newfangled ceramic chip made by Chipco!.

At the time (23 years ago!) it was very exotic looking as compared to the other molds of the day.
Like seeing your first Corvette, after seeing only sedans and station wagons ... well, not quite, but you get the idea.

As I recall, the first 4 casinos to issue Chipcos were Harrah's Tahoe, Lakeside Inn Tahoe, President Riverboat in Iowa and (the very first) El San Juan in Puerto Rico.
