This was from a news release....
The bank of England has printed a total of 500,000 special notes to mark Hong Kong's handover to China on July 1, 1997.
Buyers can expect to pay 150 Hong Kong dollars (20 U.S.
dollars) for a five pound note in a commemorative folder, while an uncut sheet with 35 of the souvenir notes costs 5,000 Hong Kong dollars (over 650 U.S. dollars).
The notes are legal tender. But people lucky enough to get their hands on one aren't expected to part with them easily.
The Bank of England's Commercial Operations Manager was in Hong Kong for the launch.
Most of the notes will be sold in Hong Kong with few available for collectors in Britain.
