I stayed at Mirage last month and although I had WiFi in my room, there was no data service of any kind at California Pizza Kitchen which is just off the Casino.

If South Point doesn't make WiFi available at the Convention bourse, I'll set up a hot-spot again this year. Only 8 users at a time, but no charge to connect. Uses the CLEAR 4G WiMAX system that is available in Las Vegas. I don't think this has been mentioned to the hotel, so don't advertise it.
