~~~ back in their early days (pre-G era) when they were trying to drum up buyers' attention/participation by offering sellers ideas of what to list, they had an index (an Items Wanted-type index) where one could list what they're interested in [I BUY IVORY POKER CHIPS ] in a line or two... and when it didn't fully catch on like they thought it would they added a feature to allow scans in those requests... and though their object wasn't for the buyers/sellers to do business at that index, it was only to induce sellers to auction such items that buyers were interested in; kind of a 'sure thing' action, but it turned out to be such a madhouse of buyers and sellers going crazy listing/buying/selling w/o a dime going eBay's way that they took it down about two weeks later. It happend one year just as our convention was going on, too...
