I too switched to Ooma a few months ago and I'm very happy with it. I agree that the quality is generally just as good as plain old wired phone service. I say generally because *occasionally* there will be an echo, but those are very rare.

I am charged a little less than $4/month for taxes. I'm surprised that Don doesn't get charged at all. That's great! But regardless, I would definitely recommend it. And you can keep your old phone number too if you want to, although there is a $40 fee for doing so, but it is not required. You can simply get the new number that they assign to you for no charge.
