I have to agree with Michael on this one.
The guns used by the Connecticut crazy were apparently legally purchased and owned - by his mother. They were misused.
Outlawing guns will not prevent the kinds of horrific acts we have seen over the past year, unfortunately. There are laws against murder, yet we see them every year. There are laws against robbery, yet we see them all the time. There are laws against drunk driving, yet hundreds of people are killed every year by drunk drivers. There are laws against discrimination, yet it occurs regularly.
Every time there is a distasteful, hateful, and terrible crime committed with a firearm, some immediately react by insisting that we ban guns, as though that would prevent hateful, evil, often insane people from taking lives. It won't. Such people will always find a way to perpetrate their criminal intents and to harm other people.
Maybe it's people we need to ban!
