Ordered one of the new $1 Jerrys Nugget chips from Chuck Smorse a few days ago. Friday after work I came home to find a postage due notice in my mailbox for $1.15. Figuring it was the chip from Chuck, I said to myself, "here we go again". Just got back from the USPS annex here in Lancaster NY. Here is the REST of the story (thank you Paul Harvey).........the front desk clerk was a very young man who was extremely polite and friendly which led me to believe that he was a new employee. I gave him my slip that was left in my box the day before. He went to retrieve my item and stopped to talk to one of the other employees who was emptying garbage cans. The young man asked why the item had postage due when it was stamped "FIRST CLASS LARGE ENVELOPE" and should have only been charged THAT rate. The older gentleman started yelling at the young man telling him that "IT WAS A PADDED ENVELOPE AND PADDED ENVELOPES ARE ALWAYS PACKAGE RATE!!!!". The young man told him that he had just finished his training for the job and that it was explained to him that this item had the correct postage and I should not be charged. The older guy just told him he was wrong and walked away. This is unbelievable and I felt very bad for the young man. But, its the USPS and theres nothing that can be done. It is, and will always be, the model for inconsistency and mind-boggling behavior the world has ever seen.
